Rooted in Winter: A Meditative Journey toward Innerstanding

The winter season offers a unique opportunity for restoration and introspection. This time of year encourages us to connect deeply with ourselves, our thoughts, and the wisdom of our ancestors and spirit guides. Meditation becomes a powerful tool in this journey, helping us gain insight into what we need to release to move forward with clarity and peace.

The Power of Meditation

Meditation is a practice that allows us to quiet the mind, tune into our inner selves, and cultivate a sense of peace and clarity. It can be particularly beneficial during the winter months when nature itself is in a state of rest and renewal. By meditating, we align ourselves with this natural rhythm, fostering personal growth and healing. When I started getting into the practice of meditation I had a hard time quieting my mind, and depending on how much stuff I have on my mind present day I still have a hard time. With years of practice, I can currently quiet my mind long enough to hear the messages meant for me.

Steps to Meditate and Let Go

1. Create a Sacred Space:

  • Find a quiet, comfortable place where you won't be disturbed. Light a candle or incense to set the mood and invite a sense of calm. If you don't have a candle or incense that is fine. Setting the intention to be one with yourself is just enough.

2. Choose Your Meditative Tool:

  • Breathwork: Focus on your breath, inhaling deeply through your nose and exhaling slowly through your mouth. This simple act can ground you and bring your awareness to the present moment.

  • Guided Meditation: Use a recorded meditation that resonates with the theme of letting go. Allow the guide's voice to lead you through the process of release. Using music with just instrumentals works as well. Beautiful Chorus- Chakra Mediation album is my favorite.

  • Mantras: Repeat a mantra or affirmation that supports your intention, such as "I release what no longer serves me", "I am open to new beginnings", or "I love myself. "

3. Connect with Your Inner Self:

  • Close your eyes and visualize a warm, healing light surrounding you. Imagine this light gently dissolving any tension or negative energy, allowing you to feel lighter and more at peace.

  1. Invite Your Ancestors and Spirit Guides:

  • Silently invite your ancestors and spirit guides to join you in this sacred space. Ask for their wisdom and guidance in understanding what you need to let go of.

  1. Reflect and Release:

  • As thoughts and emotions arise, acknowledge them without judgment. Visualize them as leaves floating down a stream, gently drifting away. Trust that you are supported in this process of release.

  1. Close with Gratitude:

  • End your meditation by expressing gratitude for the insights and healing you've received. Take a moment to journal any thoughts or feelings that came up during your practice.

Embrace the Season of Restoration

Winter is a beautiful time to turn inward and nurture your spirit. By incorporating meditation into your daily routine, you can gain valuable insights into what you need to let go of, paving the way for new growth and transformation. Remember, you are not alone on this journey—your ancestors and spirit guides are always with you, offering their love and support.

Every day I remind myself of the grace that I need to give myself, we have seasons for a reason; let's use them wisely.
